California’s New Earthquake Early Warning System – And Why We Are Different

Speaker: John G. Parrish, PhD | California State Geologist | California Geological Survey

California is the most seismically active state in the nation after Alaska; however, California is the most populous state with 39 million inhabitants, and has created the World’s 6th largest economy atop the nation’s shakiest ground. Because of California’s geological structure, geographic features and population spread, the State faces some unique challenges in bringing about a useful Earthquake Early Warning System.
